Come alongside, serve together

“I believe the association is strongest when our churches encourage one another, share what they have, and work together on things that are difficult to do alone.”

My desire is to get to know our pastors and churches, hear what God is doing in each community, and come alongside you in ways that are genuinely helpful.

What we do

Churches helping churches

The association is not a church. It exists to serve the churches, helping them accomplish together what would be hard for any one congregation to do alone.

Connecting

Building real relationships among pastors, churches, leaders and ministry partners.

  • Pastor gatherings and fellowship
  • Churches sharing resources and volunteers
  • Partnerships between English- and Spanish-speaking churches
  • Mission trips our churches take together

Equipping

Providing training, resources, coaching and practical ministry support.

  • Pastor Essentials and pastoral coaching
  • Finding David leadership pipeline
  • Leader, teacher and deacon training
  • Help for churches planting new churches

Strengthening

Helping congregations become healthier, better led and more intentional in reaching their communities.

  • Church health and revitalization coaching
  • Support for small, rural and pastorless churches
  • Conferences that serve the whole family

Two are better than one; because they have a good reward for their labour. For if they fall, the one will lift up his fellow.

About us

We exist to serve the churches

Trinity River Baptist Association is a fellowship of autonomous churches in Liberty and the surrounding communities of Southeast Texas. Our churches cooperate voluntarily to advance the gospel, strengthen congregations, support pastors and carry out ministry together.

Our vision

To see healthy, gospel-centered churches working together to reach their communities, develop leaders, strengthen families, and multiply disciples and churches throughout Southeast Texas and beyond.

Our mission

To connect, equip and strengthen local churches by encouraging pastors, developing leaders, providing resources, fostering cooperation, and supporting church planting and revitalization for the advancement of the gospel.

How we work

The local church leads. We come alongside.

Each member church keeps its own leadership, governance and ministry decisions. TRBA works alongside willing churches and never takes control of them.

When a local church…TRBA helps by…
identifies and sends a church planterproviding training, mentoring, resources and partner churches
seeks revitalizationproviding coaching, assessments, resources and encouragement
wants to strengthen its marriage or discipleship ministryproviding training, qualified speakers and resources

Our leadership

Director of Missions

From the Director's Desk

A welcome from Adrian

I’m amazed by what God is doing through the churches of the Trinity River Baptist Association, and I’m honored to be part of this association and to serve alongside you.

My desire is to get to know our pastors and churches, hear what God is doing in each community, and come alongside you in ways that are genuinely helpful. I believe the association is strongest when our churches encourage one another, share what they have, and work together on things that are difficult to do alone.

That may mean encouraging a pastor, equipping leaders, supporting church planting or revitalization, sharing resources, or simply showing up when a church needs help. The local church leads its own ministry. Our role is to strengthen and support the churches God has placed throughout this region.

I look forward to building relationships with you and discovering how we can serve together. Thank you for welcoming me into the work God is doing through TRBA.

Adrian FerrariDirector of Missions

Adrian Ferrari, Director of Missions

Adrian Ferrari

Adrian Ferrari has accepted the call to become the next Director of Missions/Associational Missional Strategist for the Trinity River Baptist Association, beginning in 2027. Born in New York, raised in the Chicago area, and of Uruguayan descent, Adrian is a pastor, church planter, missionary, and Bible teacher who entered full-time ministry in 2013. His ministry has taken him from the Midwest to Argentina and New England.

In Argentina, Adrian planted Iglesia Bautista de Cuyo in 2017. The church multiplied by planting another church in 2018.

In 2020, Adrian planted FaithWay Community Church in Connecticut. Over the next four years, through the work of local churches and in partnership with the North American Mission Board’s SEND Network, four additional churches were planted and one church was revitalized. FaithWay also hosted Connecticut’s first Southern Baptist church planting resident.

As a SEND Network Church Planting Champion, Adrian connected churches, planters, and ministry partners to help churches develop and send leaders for church planting. His ministry experience also includes serving as a senior pastor, revitalization pastor, associate pastor, and next-generation pastor. Adrian has also led groups on international missions trips, including trips to India alongside missionaries with the International Mission Board.

Adrian teaches and preaches in both English and Spanish and brings deep experience in Hispanic and cross-cultural ministry. He earned a Bachelor of Science and a Master of Arts in Biblical Studies from Clarks Summit University, formerly Baptist Bible College & Seminary, in Clarks Summit, Pennsylvania. He also earned a Master of Arts in Teaching from Liberty University and is completing a Doctor of Ministry in Ministry Leadership at Liberty University. His doctoral work focuses on helping local churches identify, develop, deploy, and multiply spiritually mature leaders.

As he begins serving TRBA in 2027, Adrian’s heart for association ministry is to come alongside churches with encouragement, relationships, training, and practical support. He wants pastors to know they are not doing ministry alone and to see that being part of TRBA genuinely helps their church.

Adrian co-hosts Men After God, where he leads verse-by-verse Bible studies. He is also writing a book on the life of David for imperfect men who follow a perfect God. Adrian and his wife, Krystal, have five children.

“I want pastors to look at TRBA and say: being part of this association genuinely helps our church.”
Our measure of success

The association succeeds when its churches are strengthened and the gospel advances.

We don't measure ourselves by the number of meetings or programs. We ask whether pastors are better supported, leaders are being developed, struggling churches are getting real help, and new churches are being planted by local churches.

Five new Spanish-language churches in ten years

Liberty County is one of the fastest-growing counties in Texas, and many of the families moving here speak Spanish. We are praying toward five new Spanish-language churches by 2036, each planted by a local sending church with TRBA coordinating, training and coming alongside.

Pastor support

No pastor should serve alone

We want every pastor in our association to know someone is in their corner, with relationships that encourage them long before problems arise.

Available now
  • Pastor Essentials, a one-year course in biblical training on Monday evenings, taught by our own pastors. It's open to anyone, not only pastors, and you can start any time. Church planting residents take it as part of their residency.
  • A one-year church planting residency in one of our churches for men preparing to plant or pastor.
  • Ongoing coaching for new pastors as they begin to lead.
  • One-on-one conversations with pastors. Call the office to set one up.
Starting with a pilot

Leadership coaching for pastors

As part of TRBA, your pastor has access to John Maxwell Certified coaches and a certified DISC trainer. We'll start with a four-month pilot with a handful of churches and grow from there.

Monthly pastor huddleA free video call for TRBA pastors, led by Dr. Dustin Alley and Luke Sorensen.
Two free leadership coaching callsOne-on-one by phone or Zoom with a John Maxwell Certified coach for every member church pastor, with a discounted member rate to keep going.
Free DISC assessment for pastorsEvery member church pastor can take a DISC assessment at no cost, with a debrief from certified DISC trainer Dr. Dustin Alley.
DISC for your teamA virtual workshop to help your staff or leadership team understand how each person is wired and works best together.
Why DISC?

Most conflict and burnout in ministry isn't about doctrine. It's about people who are wired differently trying to work together. DISC helps a pastor understand his natural leadership and communication style, where he's strong, where he's likely to get stuck under pressure, and how to lead people who aren't like him. It gives a pastor and his leaders a shared, non-threatening language for working through tension, building a team and making decisions together. For new pastors, churches in transition and leadership teams, it's one of the simplest ways to prevent problems before they start.

Church planting

Church Planting Pipeline

Being built with our churches

Local churches plant churches. The association helps them do it.

We're building a new church planting pipeline together with our member churches. TRBA won't plant churches apart from them. Our role is to be a catalyst, so that planting new churches becomes part of the mission our churches share.

The heart of the pipeline

A church planting residency

Instead of sending a future planter away for training, a TRBA church hosts him as a resident. He serves, learns and leads inside a real church, under its pastor, while he's assessed, trained and coached. When he launches, he goes out with a sending church behind him.

Jesus sent His church to make disciples of all nations (Matthew 28:19–20). Planting new churches is one of the clearest ways to do that, so we'll help any member church set up a church planting residency.

  1. 1

    Called

A man with a possible call to plant is recognized, often through his church's DAVID process.

  2. 2

    Assessed

He and his family go through church planter assessment with Send Network, alongside his pastor's discernment.

  3. 3

    Resident

He serves in a sending church: preaching, leading, making disciples and learning to plant, with Pastor Essentials training, a mentor and regular coaching.

  4. 4

    Sent

He launches with his sending church, partner churches from across TRBA, and Southern Baptist support.

  5. 5

    Multiplying

Coaching continues after launch, and the new church becomes a sending church itself.

Want your church to become a multiplying church? TRBA will walk with you to host a resident, using a one-year plan that fits your church's size. The resident learns your church's ministries and then launches either a new, independent church or a campus of your church that becomes self-governing over time. Talk with us.

Help shape it

Is your church praying about planting, or do you know a man who may be called to plant?

We want sending churches and potential planters at the table while this pipeline is designed.

We'll draw on the North American Mission Board's Send Network, including Send Network Español for Hispanic church planting.

Hispanic & cross-cultural ministry

Ministerio Hispano

Spanish-speaking and bilingual churches are already part of our association. We want to learn from and partner with them, train bilingual leaders, and help English- and Spanish-speaking churches reach Southeast Texas together.

  • Spanish-language pastoral training
  • Bilingual leadership development
  • Equipping Hispanic congregations
  • English–Spanish church partnerships
  • Hispanic church planting through sending churches

Finding David: raising up faithful men

You can teach ministry skills. You cannot manufacture godly character.

If one of your deacons resigned tomorrow, who would replace him? Finding David is a simple, biblical way to recognize the men God is already preparing in your church and invest in them before a position opens.

About God

God wants a personal relationship with you

Nearly everybody believes in God. But did you know that God wants to know you personally? Here is how you can have peace with God and be close to Him every day of your life.

1

God loves you

God created you and loves you. He wants you to know Him and to experience the full life He intended.

“For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.”John 3:16
2

Sin separates us from God

Every one of us has sinned, going our own way instead of God's. Sin breaks our relationship with God, and we cannot fix it by being good enough.

“For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God.”Romans 3:23
3

Jesus paid for our sin

Jesus Christ, God's Son, died on the cross in our place and rose again from the dead. He is the only way back to God.

“But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.”Romans 5:8
4

Receive Him by faith

Salvation is a gift. You receive it by turning from your sin and trusting Jesus as your Lord and Savior.

“That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.”Romans 10:9

Ready to take the next step?

If you have prayed to receive Christ, or you have questions, we would love to talk with you and help you find a church family nearby.

Become a member church

No church should do ministry alone

Being part of Trinity River Baptist Association isn't about buying services. It's about having a family of churches and an association staff that come alongside your pastor and your people: in the good seasons, the hard ones, and everything in between.

01

We know your pastor by name

Before there's ever a crisis, your pastor has someone who calls, visits, prays and asks how he and his family are really doing.

02

We show up

When a pastor resigns, a storm hits or a church hits a hard season, we're there to walk with you, not hand you a brochure.

03

We help you do what's hard alone

Training, conferences, coaching and church planting that a single congregation would struggle to provide on its own.
